Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Image Optimizer ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app lists your product images and, when you ask it to (or, with auto-optimise on, for new product images), scales them down, re-compresses them in their own format, writes alt text and file names from your templates, and replaces the files in Shopify. It keeps an exact copy of each original it replaced so you can restore or download it. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Your images

You keep all rights to your images; you give us permission to process and store them only to provide the app. Re-compressing changes pixels: check the result on your store and use Restore if you prefer the original. Kept originals are available while the app is installed and are deleted after you uninstall (when Shopify sends its store deletion request, 48 hours later). Restore or download what you need before uninstalling.

Billing

Plans are chosen on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can change or cancel at any time on that page or by uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

The app does not process personal data of your customers: it works only with your product images and product details. If an image you upload contains personal data (for example a photo of a person, or camera location data), you are the controller and we are the processor of that data, and we will:

  • process it only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app;
  • never sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 and R2 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage, image processing) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete all store data after uninstall (shop redaction), and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
